About

Nick Thomas

Hello, and welcome! I first wanted to say thank you for taking the time to check out my work and getting to know me! It’s only fair that if you’re looking to invest in me to capture your wedding or engagement, you know exactly who you’re putting your faith in.

Let me start by saying I have trouble sitting still. Maybe it’s the ADHD, but the end result is that I’m a self-proclaimed elder emo goofball with too many hobbies. In a nutshell, I’m a drummer, automotive and motorcycle dork, a sucker for Sci-Fi, and a devoted dog dad. To keep things from getting too long-winded (I can talk at length about all of these things), I’ll hit you with some fun facts for each of these topics:

  • I first learned the drums playing Rock Band for Xbox. Really, it’s great for learning the basics, though I’m probably awful at the game now, and not much better at actual music.

  • Cars are one of the reasons I got into photography. I got hooked on Top gear in high school and wanted to be the next Jeremy Clarkson or at least work for one of the major publications as a photographer. I actually started in that direction by spending 2017 through early 2023 as Mishimoto Automotive’s R&D Content Creator. Check out my automotive photography and work with Mishimoto

  • I’ve only been a biker since 2020, but it’s already taken over my life. My first bike was a 1981 Honda CX500 that’s currently going through a cafe racer build.

  • My current Sci-Fi obsession is The Expanse book series.

  • My fur baby’s name is Kezzy, aka Kezzandra, aka Kezz Bone. She’s a pit/husky/lab mix but a purebred sweetheart. She has her own Instagram. (@Kezz_bone)

Photography - How it started

I’ve always been the creative one in my family of engineers and medical professionals, which planted the seeds of my photography journey in high school. Originally planning to follow in that engineering career path, I made an important discovery in my junior year - I HATE math. So, since I was already visual media kid, I continued that journey into community college where I got my first taste of digital photography. This single class sparked an almost insatiable appetite for capturing slivers of life in single frames, and I was ready for the full-course meal as a photojournalism student at Penn State.

This photo was apparently taken on a potato in 2014 shortly after photographing my first Blue and White game for the Collegian

When it comes to Penn State, I’ll first start by saying that I’m surprised they let me graduate since I didn’t attend a single football game as a fan. While I’m not a sports fan, I did get my fair share of experience photographing the athletic prowess of a D1, BIG 10 school since I spent my three years there as a Collegian photographer. From everyday student life, to concerts at the Bryce Jordan Center, to PSU football’s return to bowl games, I was tasked with keeping the massive student body up to date on all things Penn State through my photos, and even came to lead the photography department through my final year before graduating.

From Penn State I moved on to the Toledo Blade for an immersive internship with the newspaper’s photography department before returning to the Philadelphia area for bigger and better things.

How it’s going

My time in the journalism field may have been brief, but I still utilize the skills and experience that I picked up on the way to this very day. I approach each wedding day more like I’m delivering coverage to a publication. I’m on the prowl for those raw and genuine emotions that make for the best memories with your friends, family, and loving partner. I’m constantly combining my creative eye with my particular skill of being in the right place at the right time which results in genuine smiles, natural belly laughs, and unscripted moments that last a lifetime.

With all that said, who says being a professional means that you have to be stiff and serious While I’m on the hunt for those genuine moments, I’m not afraid to coax out some of these precious memories. This is where that goofball attitude comes in handy. From prep to poses, I know all the tricks to get you and your guests smiling, laughing, and generally enjoying themselves. It’s a wedding, it’s supposed to be fun! Let’s sing, dance, and most importantly, create some memories together.

Really, couldn’t be more ecstatic to be in contact with such a wide range of beautiful people who are willing to share their most important days, and most intimate moments. I couldn’t ask for a cooler job, and I can’t wait to get to know you and your love story.
